EFFECTS OF HIGH TECNOLOGY MEDICAL SYSTEMS NEXUS-ES - Engelsk

Produktene vil få stor betydning for framtidens etterbehandling ved bl.a.kirurgiske inngrep. Publikasjonene er allmennyttige.

EFFECTS OF HIGH TECNOLOGY MEDICAL SYSTEMS NEXUS-ES® ON INFLAMMATION SIGNS - Italiensk

Heat has always been considered as a typical sign of inflammation process. The study objective is to verify whether electromagnetic fields produced by a special, registered fibre, enriched with extremely light, noble metals with conductive propriety could reduce the infalmmation measured by thermography. Forty-five patients, attending at the same rehabilitation centre for different causes (anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, epicondylitis, brachial neuralgia) have been enrolled in the study. They performed one initial thermography and the second thermography after they were wearing for 30’ a medical system NEXUS-ES®. In all groups both the average and the maximum values are significantly lower after the use of the medical system NEXUS-ES®. (P<0.0001). In the total samplet he average value pre was 33,3° and the average value post was 30.7°, with a decrease of -2.6. The width of the differences is variable in the three groups: higher in the anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction group, and lower in the epicondylitis group. No adverse events have been reported in the course of the study. Data collected are preliminary and registered after a minimum time of exposure, but it is possible to affirm that thermographies show, in different osteoarticular pathologies, a decrease in local inflammation with NEXUS-ES® medical system.

PRELIMINARY COMPARATIVE RANDOMIZED BLIND STUDY ON NEXUS-ES USE IN REHABILITATION FIELD

Aim.  Actually rehabilitation following orthopedic surgery aims to an even faster time for full recovery. The aim of the study was to verify whether electromagnetic fields produced by a special, registered fiber, enriched with extremely light, noble metals with conductive propriety could reduce the edema and improve the muscle trophism after surgery.

Methods.  Thirty patients, attending at the same rehabilitation center have been randomized in two groups: The first group (16) used the knee-band (nexus-ES) and the control group (14) used a knee-band indistinguishable for the patients and the physicians in the measures of the outcomes.

Results.  As expected, 30 days after surgery, there is not a full equivalence in bioelectric parameters, measured by bio impedance, between the normal limbs and the operated limbs. But while in the active group the differences are slight, in the control group the difference between the two legs are statistical significant. The difference of reactance (Xc) and phase angle (Pa) Between normal and operated leg expressed as percentage is 10.7 % and 7.9 % respectively in the nexus-ES group, and 17.9 % and 14.7 % in the control group. No adverse events have been reported in the course of the study.

Conclusion.  Data collected are preliminary but show a statistical significant difference between the groups during the rehabilitation period; patients in the active group show a faster “normalization” in the operated leg through an improvement of tissue exchanges and oxygenation.

PRELIMINARY COMPARATIVE RANDOMIZED BLIND STUDY ON PAIN REDUCTION AFTER ACL RECONSTRUCTION WITH NEXUS –ES KNEE BAND

Aim. Actually rehabilitation following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction aims to an even faster time for full recovery. The aim of this study was to verify whether electromagnetic field produced by a special, registered fiber, enriched with extremely light, noble metals with conductive could reduce the postoperative pain.

Methods Sixty-one patients, attending at the same rehabilitation center, after the same operation, performed by the same surgeon have been randomized in two groups: the first group (26) used the knee-band Nexus ES and the control group (35) used a knee-band indistinguishable for the patients.

Results. As expected, pain (measured by a 0-10 VAS) decreases in both groups from period A (1-3 days after operation). Differences between groups appear statistically significant 1-3 days after operation (25%), but more clearly 8-10 days after operation (68%), with a lower pain perception in the Nexus ES group. No adverse events have been reported in the course of the study.

Conclusion. Data collected are preliminary but show a statistical significant difference between the groups during the rehabilitation period; patients in the active group show a lower pain perception after operation through an improvement of tissue exchanges and oxygenation.
